Lifelong Learners: Teaching Students How to Learn

Scientific and mathematical thinking requires the ability to ask good questions, risk mistakes and keep learning. However, very few schools offer courses on how to learn, or how to think about these concepts in your role as a teacher. This session explores how to become a self-taught learner—an essential component of critical thinking—and how we can teach our students these strategies. From pinpointing blind spots to working with a natural learning cycle, key insights from cognitive learning science can help our students develop a greater sense of autonomy and future-proof their education.
